Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar has clarified that all necessary steps have been taken to purchase paddy produce from farmers for the kharif season and to disburse their payments promptly. The Civil Supplies Minister inaugurated the paddy purchase centre at Chebrolu in Unguturu mandal on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Manohar noted that the previous YSRCP government had failed to pay ?1,674 crore to farmers for the paddy purchased by the government, a matter that has now been addressed by the incumbent government. He assured that steps are in place to purchase paddy from farmers and that the payment will be credited to their bank accounts within 48 hours. The government will also cover the costs of gunny bags and transport charges for purchasing the paddy produce from farmers, the Minister confirmed.
