The Congress government will purchase every grain of paddy at the support price, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy assured the farmers on Saturday.
The Minister distributed Kalyana Lakshmi cheques to beneficiaries at the Kushmanchi mandal Tahsildar office.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Srinivas Reddy urged farmers who cultivated paddy not to entertain fears about the purchase of paddy they produced. He further said that an additional Rs 500 per quintal would be paid for fine quality paddy.
He also recalled how previous governments had treated farmers, emphasising that the Congress government was focusing on the welfare of farmers, women, and the poor. The government is implementing welfare schemes while clearing the State’s debts and maintaining financial discipline, he pointed out.
As promised to farmers, the government has already waived Rs 18,000 crore worth of loans for farmers and an additional Rs. 13,000 crore is pending for waiver, which will be credited to their accounts by the end of December, the Minister stated.
Regarding unemployment, he pointed out that over 57,000 jobs had been filled by the people’s government within 10 months. Examinations for Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 posts were held, and steps are being taken to provide appointment orders to the selected candidates by December, he assured.
The Minister reiterated that the government would fulfil every promise made to the people.
On this occasion, the Minister distributed cheques worth Rs 6,107,076 to 61 Kalyana Lakshmi/Shadi Mubarak beneficiaries. He also handed over land titles to the children of Sheikh Yakub and Saeedabi, a couple who lost their lives in recent floods in the Nayanaknaguda area of Kusumanchi mandal.
The event was attended by State Warehousing Corporation Chairman Rayala Nageswara Rao, Khammam Revenue Divisional Officer Narasimha Rao, Assistant Director of Agriculture Saritha, Khammam Rural ACP Tirupati Reddy and other officials.
