India Game Developer Conference Indian Institute of Creative Tech’s regional hub to be set up in city

Uplifting skill development in the video gaming sector, the Indian Institute of Creative Technology’s regional hub will be established in Hyderabad, said Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), at the 16th edition of the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) 2024 at HICC Novotel on Thursday.
The conference, an initiative of the Game Developer Association of India (GDAI), saw over 6,000 attendees on day one, featuring more than 100 global and local gaming developers and publishers who showcased immersive and interactive entertainment for visitors.
Addressing the media, Sanjay Jaju highlighted plans for the Indian Institute of Creative Technology in Mumbai. The project will follow a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with 48% government funding, involving significant participation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The Secretary confirmed that the Indian Institute of Creative Technology’s temporary campus is already operational, with plans for a Regional Hub in Hyderabad to be announced soon by IT Minister D Sridhar Babu.
 Sanjay stated that the I&B Ministry will collaborate with the Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) to develop high-quality talent, enabling India to lead the global gaming sector.
He also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal to cultivate world-class animators and gamers and announced a new international event, WAVES – the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit, to be held in Delhi in February 2025. Sanjay also mentioned that on November 20, Prasar Bharati will launch an OTT platform with live channels and archived content. Additionally, he revealed that private FM radio stations, which are for auction, will expand to 230 smaller towns, including Telangana, to support hyper-local entertainment.
In conclusion, Sanjay announced that the International Film Festival of India in Goa will be held on a grand scale, with significant participation from the Telugu film industry. The event will celebrate filmmakers and celebrities from the industry.
