CPI demands White Paperon irrigation projects in AP

Must read

Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary K Ramakrishna has demanded that the State government release a white paper on irrigation projects and the water allocations related to them. He also called on the government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the irrigation projects and water distribution.
Ramakrishna, along with former MLC and CPI state secretariat member Jalli Wilson, addressed the media at the party’s state office, Dasari Bhavan, in Vijayawada on Sunday. During the press conference, Ramakrishna criticized the central government for what he called its unjust treatment of the state concerning irrigation projects. He pointed out that while Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu talks about river interlinking, the central government is attempting to reduce the height of the Polavaram project, which he said would harm the state.
Ramakrishna further alleged that due to the actions of the central government, the state could lose the benefits of the Polavaram project.
He said that Chief Minister Naidu had not provided clarity on this issue. He also raised concerns about the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) finalizing water allocations, claiming that the central government was attempting to reduce the water share, which he said goes against the state bifurcation law. Ramakrishna urged Chief Minister Naidu to take appropriate steps to protect the state’s interests regarding irrigation projects and water allocations.
