Ensure all necessary facilities for public: VMC Commissioner

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra has instructed officials to ensure that all necessary facilities are provided to the public in order to maintain a ‘clean and green Vijayawada’. During an inspection tour on Wednesday, the Commissioner visited various areas in the city, including Mallikharjunapeta, Upparavagu Centre, and other locations in the 52nd division of the VMC.
The visit focused on assessing the current conditions and addressing issues to improve sanitation, greenery, and infrastructure in these areas. Dhyanachandra emphasised the importance of consistent efforts to enhance the city’s livability and appeal.
During the tour, he highlighted the necessity of providing residents with a reliable drinking water supply through pipelines, emphasising that there should be no lapses in this service. He also instructed officials to repair any leaks in the pipelines and take measures to prevent water contamination.
Later, the Commissioner inspected the drains and provided appropriate instructions to VMC staff, urging them to regularly clear the drains of waste and garbage. He encouraged sanitation staff to raise public awareness about the importance of not dumping waste into canals and drains.
Meanwhile, local citizens requested the VMC Commissioner to provide parking facilities for their vehicles. They also asked for gratings on canals where necessary and the construction of a community hall.
The Commissioner was accompanied by VMC’s 52nd Corporator Ummadi Venkateswara Rao, Chief Engineer R Srinath, In-Charge CMHO Dr Suresh, SE (Works) P. Satyanarayana, EE Venkateswara Reddy, Sanitary Supervisor Sivaram Prasad, and others.
