Transformative step for city’s IT growth, promising new opportunities, job creation, and enhanced infrastructure

The Andhra Pradesh government’s recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with tech giant Google has been celebrated as a pivotal moment for Visakhapatnam, positioning the city as a rising star in the global technology landscape.
Industry leaders have praised the partnership, highlighting its transformative potential for the region’s IT sector. Ravi Eswarapu, CEO of a-hub at Andhra University, described the collaboration as a landmark step. “This initiative will foster innovation and socio-economic progress, empowering communities while creating opportunities for students, entrepreneurs, and businesses,” he said. Eswarapu also noted the city’s longstanding association with Google through flagship programs like Developer Fest and Startup Success Days.
Echoing this sentiment, O Naresh Kumar, CEO of Symbiosis Technologies, termed the MoU a turning point for Visakhapatnam. “Google’s entry not only brings global expertise but also propels the local startup ecosystem. This showcases Andhra Pradesh’s readiness to lead on the global technology stage,” Kumar said, applauding the State government’s progressive policies.
Anand Varma, Managing Director of a leading software solutions company, expressed optimism about the initiative’s economic impact. “The IT industry in Visakhapatnam has been growing steadily, but this collaboration with Google is the tipping point. It will create thousands of job opportunities and attract more global players to invest in this region,” he emphasised.
Local entrepreneurs are equally enthusiastic about the potential benefits. Rajesh Kumar, founder of a Visakhapatnam-based tech startup, noted, “The presence of a global leader like Google will inspire local entrepreneurs to aim higher and innovate. It will open doors for collaborations, mentorship, and access to advanced technologies.” Veteran IT consultant Nageshwar Rao highlighted the city’s advantages, adding, “Visakhapatnam’s strategic location and robust infrastructure make it an ideal choice for Google. This move will place our city firmly on the global IT map.”
