Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attended the Global Madiga Day celebrations held in Hyderabad on Saturday and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to address the long-standing demands of the Madiga community.
Speaking at the event, Revanth highlighted the steps taken by the government to ensure justice for the community, emphasising its significant role in his political journey and in shaping Telangana’s social fabric.
He recalled Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s pre-election assurance of taking a positive decision regarding the Madiga community’s demands.
He stressed that the Congress commitment to justice for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes was explicitly outlined in the SC and ST Declaration.

“The Congress Government acted promptly after coming to power by appointing a legal team, led by Damodar Raja Narsimha, to present strong arguments in the Supreme Court regarding SC categorisation,” he said.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the complexity of the SC categorisation issue and compared it to the prolonged struggle for Telangana statehood.
He assured that the government’s objective is to respect the aspirations of the Madiga community and deliver justice.
“Your arguments have strength, and the government is committed to ensuring the community gets its due share,” he stated.
Revanth announced the formation of a cabinet sub-committee chaired by N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, to study the implementation of court orders without legal hurdles to address the matter comprehensively.
He also noted the establishment of a judicial commission to submit a detailed report within 60 days. “The commission is expected to present its findings in another week, and the government will act to uphold the SC verdict,” he added.
Highlighting the government’s efforts to enhance the representation of Madigas, Revanth pointed out key appointments, including the nomination of Dr Sangeeta to the CMO.
“For the first time in Osmania University’s 100-year history, a Vice Chancellor has been appointed from the Madiga community. This demonstrates our commitment to ensuring representation,” he said.
He also mentioned the appointment of a Madiga scholar as the Vice Chancellor of an IIT and as Member of the Education Commission in the Higher Education Department. Pagidi Pati Devaiah, a prominent figure from the community, has been nominated as Director of the Skill University Board. “We are providing opportunities to the community even before they demand them,” Revanth remarked.
Reiterating his commitment, the Chief Minister thanked the Madiga community for their unwavering support throughout his political career. “It is my responsibility to ensure justice for the community. Although it may take some time, this government will not fail in delivering justice,” he assured.
The event served as a platform for the Chief Minister to underline the Congress government’s ‘inclusive’ policies and its resolve to uplift the marginalised communities in Telangana, promising a future rooted in equity and representation.
