BRS MLC Kavitha, known for her staunch commitment to Telangana’s cultural heritage, defied government orders on Sunday and laid the foundation stone for a grand Telangana Talli statue in Jagital town.
The event, which marked her return to Jagital after nine months, witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with thousands welcoming her and joining her in solidarity.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said, “No matter how many GOs or gazettes the government issues, the original Telangana Talli will stand tall. She has inspired us through the Telangana Movement, and we will continue to preserve her legacy.”
She added that Bathukamma, the iconic floral festival of Telangana, will be celebrated with gusto under the patronage of Telangana Talli.
Kavitha criticised the Congress Government and accused it of undermining Telangana’s identity and cultural traditions.
“The Congress version of Telangana Talli is nothing but erasing our heritage.
We will fight back village by village, and the original Telangana Talli will be installed in all corners of the state,” she asserted.
During her visit, Kavitha also interacted with students and teachers of the Kasturba Girls Residential School in Sarangapur. Expressing concern over the inadequate facilities, she demanded that the government should hike the diet allowance in Kasturba schools and ensure nutritious food for all residential students.
Kavitha also reminded the Congress Government of its election promise to regularise contract teachers.
“The Congress claimed it would prioritise teachers’ welfare, but it has failed to deliver. This cannot continue,” she said, urging immediate action.
The day’s events culminated in a vibrant Bathukamma celebration, where Kavitha was joined by thousands of women. The celebration was seen as a symbolic protest against the Congress Government’s exclusion of Bathukamma from its version of the Telangana Talli.

The decision to install the Telangana Talli statue in Jagital is expected to reignite the debate about preserving Telangana culture, with Kavitha reaffirming her dedication to protecting the state’s identity, heritage and traditions.
