West Godavari District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani has underscored the importance of conserving energy to secure a bright future for the next generations.
The Collector on Monday flagged off an awareness rally to mark the ‘National Energy Conservation Week’, observed from December 14 to 20 across the district. The rally, starting at Prakasam Chowk, passed through PP Road and concluded at the Electricity Circle Office.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector highlighted the growing demand for electricity in the country and stressed the importance of using energy efficiently to prevent future electricity shortages. She noted that both the Central and State Governments are actively promoting non-conventional energy sources, particularly solar energy, to achieve this goal.
She emphasised the urgent need to significantly reduce electricity consumption and advocated for increased usage of solar energy in agricultural and domestic sectors. “Saving one unit of electricity reduces the burden of producing two units. Everyone should switch off electrical appliances and gadgets when not in use,” she urged.
The Collector also highlighted the advantages of using LED lights over conventional ones for energy savings. She administered an energy conservation pledge to the participants.
Among those present at the programme were SE Alapati Raghunath Babu, Executive Engineers, Divisional Engineers, and Assistant Engineers.
