Popular folk singer Mogilaiah passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 67. Fondly known as Balagam Mogilaiah, after his memorable song in the film Balagam, he had been unwell for the past few days and breathed his last on Thursday morning. Mogilaiah gained fame for singing the emotional climax song in Balagam, directed by Venu. The film, set against a Telangana village backdrop, was a massive success and won several awards. Mogilaiah’s soulful rendition in the climax, which delved into family relationships, was one of the highlights of the movie.
Following the success of Balagam, Mogilaiah received widespread recognition. However, in recent months, he had been battling severe health issues, including kidney and heart problems. Megastar Chiranjeevi and Balagam director Venu had extended financial help to him during his treatment. Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar also provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh for his medical expenses. Despite these efforts, Mogilaiah’s condition worsened and his family admitted him to a hospital in Warangal, where he sadly passed away on Thursday morning.
Mogilaiah hailed from the village of Duggondi, which is now in mourning following the news of his demise. Balagam director Venu and producer Dil Raju have expressed their heartfelt condolences to his family. Mogilaiah’s contributions to folk music and his unforgettable performance in Balagam will always be remembered.
