The Andhra Pradesh government is set to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) on a large scale to improve administrative efficiency, said K. Dinesh Kumar, CEO of the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS). Speaking at an AI workshop organised by Google in New Delhi on Thursday, Kumar outlined the government’s vision of using AI to transform governance.
The workshop followed the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Google and RTGS for collaboration on AI initiatives. The session explored AI opportunities, use cases, and their potential integration across various government departments.
Kumar and his team engaged with Google officials during the event, discussing global AI advancements and their potential to revolutionise government operations. He noted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu aims to leverage AI to make governance more transparent, efficient, and accessible to the people of Andhra Pradesh. The government plans to streamline public service delivery by using AI to remove complex bureaucratic hurdles.
State’s IT and RTG Minister, Nara Lokesh, envisions creating a unified search bar for citizens, providing seamless access to all government services in one place. In addition, the state government is working on developing its version of ChatGPT and exploring blockchain technology to simplify the delivery of key certificates such as birth, death, caste, income, residence, and educational qualification certificates, among others, through digital services. The IT department is actively advancing these initiatives, with the government seeking Google’s support to help achieve these goals, Kumar added.
Kumar emphasised that AI would bring transformative changes to governance, making it more efficient and citizen-friendly. Google officials expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Andhra Pradesh and assured their technical support for the successful implementation of AI initiatives aligned with the state’s goals and aspirations.
