Minister for Tourism Kandula Durgesh has pledged to develop the Rayalaseema region as a prominent tourism hub, focusing on Gandikota and Siddavatam. Speaking at an interaction meeting on Sunday, where public representatives from the Kapu and Balija communities were felicitated, the Minister reaffirmed his commitment to advancing tourism projects across the four districts of Rayalaseema.
Durgesh highlighted the need to preserve ancient irrigation tanks and wells in the region, emphasising that tourism development could bring much-needed employment opportunities to the drought-affected districts. He assured that the government is determined to transform Gandikota and Siddavatam into prime tourist attractions in the near future.
The Minister also announced plans to enhance the famous Suryalanka beach in Bapatla district and mentioned the allocation of Central Government funds for the development of the Akhanda Godavari and Gandikota tourism projects. “The government is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for Dalits, Kapus, and Balijas in the backward Rayalaseema districts. People from the Kapu and Balija communities should draw inspiration from the region’s prominent figures to achieve great heights,” he remarked.
Durgesh lauded Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan for his pivotal role in the coalition’s rise to power. He praised Pawan Kalyan’s leadership and expressed gratitude for being part of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet.
The Minister expressed optimism about the collective leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in steering the state towards progress. He assured that he is addressing grievances brought to his office diligently.
The event was attended by MLC C Ramachandraiah, Kapu Corporation Chairman and former Minister Kottapalli Subba Rayudu, Kanna Nagaraju, and JSP district president Sunkara Srinivas, among others.
