He spoke of the contributions of Christian missionaries, who, even before India’s independence, established educational institutions and healthcare services inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ. He encouraged everyone to follow Christ’s example of humility and sacrifice for the welfare of others, promoting peace and love.
Recalling his tenure as Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, he mentioned directing the celebration of Christmas and Semi-Christmas events in districts. He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and security of minority communities, assuring that the government would always stand by them. The CM also recalled personally investigating a church attack in united Andhra Pradesh to ensure such incidents were prevented.
The CM emphasized that his government prioritised the welfare of the Christian community, offering financial assistance for church construction. He mentioned that up to Rs 10 lakh was granted to each service organisation, and 2 acres of land and Rs 10 crore were allocated for a Christian building in Guntur. However, the project stalled due to subsequent governmental negligence. He also noted that Rs 1.5 crore was provided for the CSI Saint Basilica Church in Vijayawada, with funds allocated for Christian cemeteries as well.
Furthermore, the CM highlighted the government’s provision of pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for Christian students, along with tuition fee reimbursements.
