Minister for Housing and I&PR K Parthasarathi inaugurated a Gokulam at Chatrai village on Wednesday. The Gokulam was set up at a cost of Rs 2.30 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asserted that the coalition led Government in the State had taken many steps for the development of the dairy industry. He highlighted the Government’s commitment for the development of the dairy industry, stating that the mini-gokulam sheds are being sanctioned as part of enhancing milk production. The TDP headed Government had taken all steps to bring the past glory to the Gokulams to encourage the rearing of cows.
“The Government has taken steps to promote rearing of sheep, goat, chicken and cattle in the rural areas. The Government encouraged the cattle rears by sanctioning Gokulam sheds,” he acknowledged and appealed to the cattle rears to avail the opportunity.
The Government is extending 90 percent subsidy for the setting up of mini-gokulams and the dairy farmers should avail the opportunity, he stated and praised that the dairy farmers are helping for the growth of the country by raising cattle.
“The Government is extending loans to aspiring farmers and livestock breeders as an incentive under the Animal Husbandry Department and the National Livestock Mission. Every livestock breeder should take advantage of these. The small and marginal farmers should avail themselves of the financial loans provided by the State and Central Governments,” Minister Parthasarathi told the farmers.
The Minister said tthat they should also be aware of the subsidized loans provided by the government. He ordered the officials to educate the dairy farmers about the State and Central governments’ incentives and loans. The Minister called up on the small and marginal farmers to avail the loans and thereby develop their businesses and grow financially.
Minister Parthasarathy directed the Animal Husbandry Department officials to organize meetings every month with bankers, agriculture and other government officials to educate farmers on the benefits of loans and the process of obtaining them, and to provide loans to farmers, especially livestock breeders.
He asked the dairy farmers to adopt modern technology and reap financial benefits, assuring them of providing loans up to Rs 1 crore with a 50 percent subsidy for the construction of sheep, goat and cattle farms and asked them to make use of the opportunity.
The onus of extending loans to the dairy farmers and cattle rears extensively lies on the bankers; he said and asked the farmers to bring to his notice, if banks refused to sanction loans to them. Ex-MLA Ghanta Murali and animal husbandry officials were among those who were present.
