Palakollu-Marteru road widening works launched

Minister for Water Resources Development Nimmala Ramanaidu formally launched the Palakollu-Marteru road widening works. The Minister performed bhoomi pooja for the road widening works at Ullamparru village in Palakollu mandal on Wednesday. The Palakollu-Marteru road widening works will be carried out at a cost of Rs 25 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ramanaidu asserted that highways are important for the development of a region. He highlighted the commitment of the Government to make the State as pothole-free roads. He reminisced that during the previous tenure of Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister, cement roads were laid to every village, adding that roads were also constructed connecting mandal and district headquarters from every village.  
“With the cooperation of the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, four lanes and six lanes of national highway were constructed in AP. The widening of the national highways as four and six lanes reduced the journey to Visakhapatnam to six hours and Hyderabad 7 hours,” he claimed.
The Minister acknowledged that the road repairing works are going on a speedy manner and the works would be completed by the Sankranthi festival. The Government’s aim is to make the highways as accident-free roads, he said. Launching a scathing attack against the Jagan Mohan Reddy headed previous regime, Ramanaidu regretted that the roads were badly damaged during the YSRCP regime as there was no maintenance.
Along with all institutions, the road maintenance was also ruined during the erstwhile regime, he lashed out. The Minister recalled the death of seven people in a road accident in Palakollu mandal due to damaged roads.  
Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu demanded the YSRCP leaders to tender an apology to the people for their inept governance and ruining of all systems. Referring to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s announcement that he would go to the people in January month, Ramanaidu with what intention he would go to people now and what he would do to them as he had already ruined all sectors during his five years regime, he questioned.
