In a significant effort to transform the lives of pregnant women, at-risk individuals, and entire communities, the district administration has made remarkable strides in connecting remote tribal habitations with proper roads. The focal point of this initiative is Valabu village in Devarapalli mandal, where the plight of people being carried on makeshift stretchers, locally known as doli, due to poor road infrastructure, sparked the District Collector Vijaya Krishnan into action.
“The distressing situation where individuals were being carried on makeshift stretchers due to lack of proper roads prompted me to direct the Panchayat Raj Engineering Department to conduct a comprehensive survey of unconnected tribal areas,” said the District Collector. “Our goal is clear—to improve connectivity and eliminate practices like the ‘doli mota,’ which have caused immense hardship to these communities.”
Within just two months, significant strides have been made. Six out of seven previously unconnected communities are now linked to the broader road network, thanks to the construction of 6.07 kilometers of road.
