Congress leaders pay tributes to ex-PM Manmohan Singh

The Congress party leaders paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away in New Delhi on Thursday.
APCC vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji and other leaders paid tributes to Manmohan Singh by garlanding his portrait in the Congress office here on Friday. Kolanukonda Sivaji recalled that Manmohan Singh introduced and implemented economic reforms when the country was facing a financial crisis.
“The death of Manmohan Singh is an irreparable loss to the country. He will remain in the hearts of millions of people as he is the architect of modern India. How he led the country from 2004 to 2014 as the Prime Minister is unforgettable and it will remain in history,” he stated.  
Shivaji reminisced that the 3G and 4G services began when he was the Prime Minister. The MGNREGA scheme and Direct Cash Transfer were also introduced by him, he extolled.  
Before he became the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh held many key portfolios including RBI Director, Director of Industrial Bank and Secretary in the financial department, The Congress leader recalled. Kolanukonda Shivaji emphasized the need to teach students about Dr. Manmohan Singh’s life story and his services to the country as an economist.
