In a historic move to enhance tourism ties, the Embassy of Nepal and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This is the first-ever agreement between Nepal and an Indian state, marking a new chapter in tourism collaboration.
Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dr Surendra Thapa, called it a landmark in tourism diplomacy. “This MOU creates a strong foundation for cultural exchanges and tourism promotion between Nepal and Andhra Pradesh,” he said. The partnership will focus on joint marketing of tourist destinations, cultural attractions, and eco-tourism, benefiting both regions.
APTDC Chairman, Nukasani Balaji, highlighted the importance of such international partnerships. “This collaboration with Nepal will open new tourism opportunities and strengthen ties between the two regions,” he remarked.
The agreement also includes business-to-business (B2B) meetings, offering a platform for travel industry professionals to create innovative tourism packages. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Forum President, K. Vijay Mohan, emphasised the potential of the partnership, stating, “With Andhra Pradesh’s beaches and cultural heritage and Nepal’s natural beauty and spiritual significance, this collaboration can offer tourists a unique and enriched experience.”
The MoU aims to boost tourism, foster cultural exchanges, and drive mutual growth in the sector, showcasing the best of Nepal and Andhra Pradesh to the world.
