Tummala vows to make medical college as model in medical sector

Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageshwara Rao on Monday said that the Khamma Government Medical College would be made a model in the medical and educational sectors. He also mentioned that the Velugumatla Urban Park is being developed for the benefit of people in Khammam city. The 500-acre Velugumatla Urban Park will be developed as an Eco Park. He announced plans to set up a ropeway at the historical Khamma Fort, a symbol of the region’s heritage. There is a proposal to establish a Shilparamam (craft village) at the Lakaram Tank Bund.
To prevent floods in the Munneru River, he announced that concrete walls would be constructed on both sides of the river with a budget of Rs 700 crore. A drainage system for floodwater diversion is also being constructed with an investment of Rs. 220 crore.
He mentioned that a lift irrigation system would be established on the Sagar Canal to fulfil the irrigation dreams of Raghunathpalem. The foundation stone for the Manchukonda Lift Irrigation Scheme will be laid on Sankranti Day.
Minister Tummala emphasised that it was his desire to complete the underground drainage system in Khammam city during his tenure. He further stated that the repair work of the Prakash Nagar Munneru High-Level Bridge will be completed within two months. A cable bridge will be constructed at the Nizam-era canal bridge, which will become an iconic feature for Khammam city.
