Naidu inaugurates CNG, PNG projects

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated AG&P Pratham – THINK Gas’ CNG and PNG projects in Tirupati, marking a significant step towards enhancing natural gas infrastructure across the State. The projects aim to serve the districts of Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, Annamayya, Anantapur, Sri Satya Sai, and YSR Kadapa.
During the inauguration, Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s role as the second-largest producer of natural gas in India, thanks to the Krishna-Godavari Basin.
 He emphasised that initiatives like AG&P Pratham – THINK Gas’ projects are essential for using the state’s natural gas resources to power homes, industries, and the transport sector, driving economic growth. He also expressed gratitude to Japan for its continued collaboration in energy development, contributing to Andhra Pradesh’s push towards a net-zero economy.
Earlier, Naidu launched the Domestic PNG network by lighting a kitchen stove at a residence in Tiruchanur and flagged off a CNG vehicle rally to raise awareness about CNG in Tirupati. In a boost to natural gas infrastructure, he inaugurated a CNG Mother Station at Anupalli, Chittoor, and laid the foundation stone for a CNG station in Nellore.
The CM also handed over CNG-powered Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) for municipal waste collection in Tirupati, reinforcing the state’s commitment to sustainable waste management. At Gajulamandyam, Naidu inaugurated industrial PNG supply to Pondy Oxides and Chemicals Limited (POCL) and laid the foundation for a Skill Development Centre for the natural gas sector.
Abhilesh Gupta, MD & CEO of AG&P Pratham – THINK Gas, praised Andhra Pradesh’s energy transformation and shared that the company has laid over 700 km of pipelines, established 51 CNG stations, and reached more than 23,000 households. AG&P-THINK Gas plans to invest Rs 10,000 crore in the State, generating over 10,000 jobs.
