The 29th death anniversary of the late Chief Minister and founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), was observed on Saturday with reverence across the NTR district.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), accompanied by MLAs Gadde Rama Mohana Rao, Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, Vasantha Krishna Prasad, and Yarlagadda Venkata Rao, paid homage to Dr NTR through various programs. Marking the occasion, Gannavaram MLA and Government Whip Yarlagadda Venkata Rao unveiled a statue of Dr NTR at Nunna in Vijayawada Rural Mandal.
At a commemorative event held at the MP’s office, NTR Bhavan in Gurunank Colony, MP Chinni reflected on Dr. NTR’s remarkable contributions to the former state of Andhra Pradesh. He urged party leaders and members to draw inspiration from Dr. NTR, who achieved extraordinary milestones in both the film industry and politics.
“Dr. NTR established the TDP, formed the government shortly thereafter, and set a historic record by becoming the first Chief Minister in the country to introduce the scheme of providing rice to the poor at just ?1 per kg,” MP Chinni noted. He added that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is working diligently to fulfil the aspirations of Dr. NTR for the state. Former Mayor Koneru Sridhar, Corporators Jasti Sambasiva Rao and Chennupati Usha Rani, TDP State Organising Secretary MS Baig, and other prominent leaders were also present at the event. In the Gannavaram Assembly Constituency, MLA Yarlagadda Venkata Rao led the death anniversary observances. He unveiled a statue of Dr. NTR near ZP High School in Nunna, Vijayawada Rural Mandal. He also laid the foundation stone for a new library at the school, which will be constructed at a cost of ?23 lakh. Additionally, he launched ground levelling works worth ?5 lakh and inaugurated two roads built under the Palle Panduga scheme at a total cost of Rs 65 lakh.
Nunna Sarpanch Katuri Sarala, MPDO Viggins, SSA DEE Balaji, and High School Headmaster Vazrala Bhupal Reddy were among those who participated in the ceremonies.
