BRS MLA Harish Rao has accused the Congress Government of failing 8,000 retired government employees, leaving them in financial and medical distress. He pointed to the case of retired police officer Thakur Narayan Singh, whose plight has become symbolic of the crisis affecting pensioners across the state.
Sharing his concern, Harish said, “It is heartbreaking to see the agony of this police officer. After serving the government for over 30 years, he is now struggling due to severe health issues, including kidney failure and is unable to access his retirement benefits. When he approached a hospital for treatment using the government-provided health security card he was turned away.”
Harish lashed out at the Congress government, calling its negligence a curse on retired employees. He emphasised that this is not just one officer’s problem but a life-and-death issue for 8,000 retired government employees across Telangana.
He demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy immediately clear the pending retirement benefits of government employees. He also urged the government to ensure that EHS (Employee Health Scheme) and police health security cards are made functional in hospitals, allowing retired employees to receive medical treatment without hurdles.
