Telangana is set for a digital revolution, with 9.3 million households soon getting seamless internet, announced IT Minister D Sridhar Babu. Speaking at the State Secretariat on Wednesday, he explained the T-Fiber project, which aims to provide high-speed internet to every home in the State. As a pilot project, four villages have already been digitized, proving the initiative’s potential. A World Bank team, led by Vaijanti Desai and Kimberly Johns, visited these villages – Hajipally (Ranga Reddy), Maddur (Narayanpet), Sangupet (Sangareddy) and Adavi Srirampur (Peddapalli) – to see the impact of digital connectivity firsthand.
Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted the state’s goal of bringing digital access to all villages within three years. He also said that Telangana has already installed a 32,000-kilometer fiber-optic network, placing the State in the forefront of India’s digital growth.
The meeting was attended by IT department Deputy Secretary Bhavesh Mishra, T-Fiber MD Venu Prasad and senior World Bank representatives Ishira Mehta, Arun Sharma and Siew Sanz Ng.
