Hyderabad-based NxtWave, a leader in upskilling India’s youth in emerging technologies, has partnered with Japan’s TIER IV, the world’s first open-source software for autonomous driving, and the Autoware Foundation. Together with NSDC, they aim to build the world’s largest autonomous vehicle (AV) developer community, training 30 lakh students in Industry 4.0 technologies.
This partnership will equip Indian youth with future-ready skills in autonomous vehicle technology, bridging the gap between academics and industry needs. Physical AI, which integrates AI with real-world systems, will impact sectors like transportation, logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing. This initiative addresses the rising demand for AI-driven mobility and fosters innovation.
Beyond AV, it will influence logistics, healthcare and agriculture, enabling driverless trucks, medical drones and autonomous tractors. It aligns with India’s vision for emerging technologies and may shape regulatory frameworks and public-private collaborations.
On Wednesday, the initiative was launched in the presence of Rahul Attuluri, Founder and CEO of NxtWave; Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC & MD, NSDC International; and Shinpei Kato, Founder and CEO of TIER IV and Chairman of the Autoware Foundation. It aims to solve India’s talent challenges, boost awareness of AV careers and strengthen industry-academia ties.
A hybrid learning model will ensure accessibility across India. In the long run, this programme will create a strong talent pipeline, support startups, and position India as a global hub for autonomous systems innovation.
