Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha visited the Tirumala temple on Monday, where she was warmly received by TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) officials. After performing darshan, she received blessings in the Ranganayakula Mandapam and was presented with sacred offerings of the deity.
During her visit, Minister Anitha expressed her well-wishes to the public under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. She reaffirmed her commitment to celebrating major festivals, including Sivaratri, with grandeur, similar to the Ratha Saptami and Brahmotsavams.
Following her darshan, Minister Anitha held a meeting with TTD Chairman B. R. Naidu at his office. She urged him to allocate funds for the development of the historic Upamaka Venkateswara Temple, located in her constituency of Payakaraopeta. Despite the temple being entrusted to TTD in 2017, she noted that no funds had been allocated for its development so far.
She recalled that a master plan for the temple’s development had been designed by the then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, but highlighted that the previous government had not acted on it. Minister Anitha requested the TTD Chairman’s support for the temple’s development and submitted a petition regarding this matter to TTD EO Shyamala Rao.
In response to her requests, Chairman B. R. Naidu assured that funds would be allocated soon for the Upamaka temple’s development and instructed the TTD Chief Engineer to prepare a report on the necessary development activities.
Minister Anitha extended an invitation to the TTD Chairman to visit the Upamaka temple ahead of the upcoming festivities on March 10, where over 1,50,000 devotees are expected to attend. She explained the uniqueness of the special offerings during the 20-day festival and emphasised local beliefs regarding their health benefits.
She also highlighted that the Upamaka temple is the only place in the country where Venkateswara Swami abhishekam is performed daily and noted that the temple is renowned for its continuous darshan through the northern entrance.
The meeting was attended by TTD board member M. S. Raju and other officials.
