Andhra Pradesh is set to emerge as a global textile hub with a focus on attracting investments, modernising infrastructure, and supporting artisans and entrepreneurs, said Handlooms and Textiles Minister Savitha. Speaking on the final day of Bharat Tex 2025 in New Delhi, she highlighted the State’s proactive approach under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership and the recently launched Textile Policy 2024-2029.
The policy aims to boost investments, generate employment, and strengthen the handloom and textile sectors. During her visit to the Andhra Pradesh Pavilion, the Minister, accompanied by Handlooms and Textiles Commissioner Rekha Rani, explored exhibits showcasing the state’s rich textile heritage. She praised the craftsmanship of weavers and assured them of government support through schemes focusing on production enhancement, financial aid, and global market access.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to the handloom and handicrafts sector, Savitha emphasised the need to promote traditional textiles such as Mangalagiri, Venkatagiri, Kalamkari, and Dharmavaram sarees while integrating modern techniques to enhance their global appeal. She also invited national and international investors, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s business-friendly policies, skilled workforce, and robust infrastructure as key advantages for setting up textile industries in the state.
Handlooms and Textiles Commissioner Rekha Rani stressed the importance of strengthening small and medium textile enterprises through policy support and financial incentives. She underlined the need for skill development, better market access, and technological advancements to help artisans and entrepreneurs compete globally.
She also announced that the state government would soon organise a seminar to discuss investment opportunities, export promotion, and sustainable growth in the textile and handicraft industry.
