Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the Telangana Government is committed to making the state numero uno in cyber safety in the country.
Speaking at the Cyber Security Conclave – 2025 (SHIELD 2025) at the HICC Hyderabad on Tuesday, he emphasized the importance of digital security and future action plans to combat cyber threats.
Congratulating the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, Cyberabad Police and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council for organising the event, he expressed delight in interacting with cyber security experts and police officers working to enhance cyber safety in Telangana.
Citing official statistics, he revealed that cybercriminals looted Rs 22,812 crore across the country last year, posing a severe threat to both the economy and citizens. He also highlighted the rising menace of fake news and misinformation on social media which is creating social unrest.
Revanth said the state government is providing resources to collaborate with cyber experts and IT companies to foster a strong cybersecurity ecosystem. He stressed the need to develop Telangana into a secure business hub and urged the public to widely share the 1930 cyber helpline number, which operates 24/7 to assist cybercrime victims.
Telangana is one of the few states in the country to have a fully operational Cyber Security Bureau and a dedicated cybercrime helpline, the CM said.
He congratulated DGP Jitender, the Director of the Cyber Bureau, and the TG-CSB team for their role in setting up seven new cybercrime police stations last year.
“This conference is significant as crime patterns are evolving rapidly. We must devise comprehensive strategies to counter these challenges. Telangana is leading the fight against cybercrime, but we need to strengthen the cybercrime wing,” he said.
He also called for a proactive approach in preventing cybercrimes rather than just focusing on arrests. Highlighting the need to curb economic crimes and fake news, he reiterated the government’s goal to make Telangana a model state in cybercrime prevention.
In a major push for international start-up collaboration, Telangana has entered into an agreement with Brazil’s GOIAS Hub to promote start-ups and foster global partnerships.
The MoU was signed at the HICC in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IT Minister Sridhar Babu, after discussions with Goias Hub representatives. T-Hub Foundation CEO Sujith and Goias State Science, Technology, and Innovation Secretary Jose Frederico Lyra Netto formalized the agreement.
As per the MoU, Telangana start-ups will get opportunities to operate in Brazil, while Brazilian start-ups will set up operations in Telangana. The agreement facilitates cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, IT, Agri-Tech, Healthcare, Biotech and Mining.
Beyond market access, T-Hub and Goias will collaborate on incubation, capacity building, technology sharing, and investment enhancement, strengthening ties between India and Brazil and fostering a dynamic start-up ecosystem in Telangana.
