Proving once again that party activist is supreme in the TDP, the party national general secretary and Minister for Education, IT and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, on Wednesday held a meeting with the cadre and the local leaders on his arrival to this world-famous temple town, before attending other official programmes.
Lokesh later made it amply clear that he has now taken a firm decision to first hold meetings with the cadre during his visits to any Assembly segment in the State. The statement made by Lokesh here acquires significance at a time when the party membership has touched a record one crore.
Hereafter, Lokesh will devote most of his time to monitor the progress of the programmes like Babu Surety-Bhavishyathuku Guarantee, party membership drive, voter verification and Mana TDP app.
Lokesh, who was on a visit to Tirupati on Wednesday as part of this exercise, first held a meeting with cluster, unit, and booth in-charges of the party at the local TDP office and those who performed well in party membership enrolment.
He asked them about the problems that they are facing, and assured them that all their issues will be resolved on a war-footing and that the party will always stand by them. Lokesh recalled the directions issued by the party national president and Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, that whenever any leader makes a visit to any Assembly segment they should first interact with cluster, unit and booth committee members.
“As part of this exercise, I am spending half of the day with all of you. There is every need that both the party and the government should move forward in close coordination,” Lokesh said, and added that the TDP is the first party in the country to introduce the cluster, unit and booth system.
Stating that some party activists had complained to him during his Padayatra that they were not getting any kind of recognition despite working hard for the progress of the TDP, Lokesh made it clear that he always respects juniors and seniors in an equal manner. He added that he encourages those who strive hard to take the party forward.
“We are receiving this kind of respect in society only because of the TDP. No doubt, we have won the recent elections, but you all should mingle with the people always. Despite heavy work pressure and winning the seat with 91,000 votes majority, I am always available for the people of Mangalagiri as I feel that the responsibility is now more on me,” Lokesh told the party activists.
Calling upon the activists to sink differences and work in close coordination, he said that the leaders should always stand by the cadre and the people. Noting that the TDP leaders and activists faced various kinds of problems in the past five years, including false cases and lathi-charges, the TDP national general secretary said that they should move forward keeping all these issues in mind.
Lokesh mentioned that the permanent membership enrolment in Tirupati is not on the lines of Mangalagiri where the total membership reached one lakh. Urging the activists not to resort to group politics in the party, Lokesh said that all the party cadre should work unitedly to strengthen the TDP. Later, Lokesh held a meeting of the corporators of the Tirupati municipality and assured them that the State government will extend all possible assistance for the development of wards.
