The Andhra Pradesh government is set to enhance the earnings of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs) by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading companies, including Farmveda, Millet Bank, Capital Management Services, and Flipkart.
Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Rural Poverty Alleviation, and Empowerment of Diaspora Affairs, Kondapalli Srinivas, held a review meeting with officials of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) and representatives of these companies at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Thursday.
The minister emphasised the need to add value to the products manufactured by SHGs and FPOs to maximise their income. He directed officials to take necessary measures to ensure better pricing for their goods. Representatives from the participating companies presented strategies to enhance the market value of farmers’ products.
During the meeting, it was decided that MoUs would soon be signed between SERP and the respective organisations to implement value-addition initiatives. SERP CEO Karuna, Director Padmavati, IAM Bangalore Professor Trilochana Sastry, Millet Bank CEO Visala, Capital Management Services CEO Rajini, Flipkart Project Head Deepu Joshi, and other officials participated in the discussions.
