BRS leaders KCR and Harish Rao did not cast their votes in the recently held MLC elections, raising eyebrows. Karimnagar MP and MoS Bandi Sanjay too didn’t cast his vote. The polling for Graduate and Teacher constituencies saw moderate to high voter turnout across different segments. Harish Rao and KCR declared themselves as graduates as per affidavit. However, Siddipet recorded lowest turnout while local MLA Harish Rao was at SLBC tunnel, KCR was nowhere to be seen. Medak MP Raghunandan Rao cast vote and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar too. A total of 56 candidates are contesting in the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar graduates’ constituency, while 15 candidates are in the fray for the teachers’ segment.

In the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda teachers’ constituency, 19 candidates are trying their luck.
According to official figures, the Karimnagar Graduates constituency recorded a 63.09% turnout, while the Karimnagar Teachers constituency saw a significantly higher 83.24% voter participation. The Nalgonda Teachers constituency reported the highest turnout at 93.55%.
The absence of two senior BRS leaders from the voting process has led to speculation, especially given their strong political influence in the State. Their decision not to participate comes at a time when the BRS is facing stiff competition from the Congress and BJP in the ongoing elections.
