Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy returned to Hyderabad on Wednesday night after concluding a week-long official tour of Japan that secured investment commitments worth Rs. 12,062 crore for Telangana. The delegation, part of the ongoing ‘Telangana Rising’ initiative, was accorded a warm reception at the Shamshabad airport by MPs, MLAs, corporation chairpersons, advisors, and Congress cadre.
The visit, which began on April 16, culminated with a final stop at Hiroshima before the Chief Minister flew back via Dubai, landing in Hyderabad around 8:10 PM. Officials described the trip as a major milestone in Telangana’s international outreach efforts.
During the seven-day tour, the Telangana government signed multiple MoUs with Japanese firms, expected to generate over 30,500 jobs across sectors. “This is not just about investments. Telangana has emerged as a credible destination for global cooperation,” said a senior official from the delegation.
The Japan visit is the latest in a series of global investment drives undertaken by the Congress-led state government. In January, Telangana secured Rs. 1.78 lakh crore worth of deals at the World Economic Forum in Davos, estimated to create 50,000 jobs. This was followed by high-level visits to the United States, South Korea, and Singapore, resulting in another Rs. 14,900 crore in investments.
During the 2024 Davos visit, the previous delegation under ‘Telangana Rising’ had also locked in Rs. 40,000 crore worth of investment commitments.
Since assuming power in December 2023, the Congress-led government has facilitated total investment inflows amounting to Rs. 2,44,962 crore and opened up employment opportunities for over 80,500 individuals.
