IAS officer Arvind Kumar appeared before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday in connection with the investigation into the Formula E Race funds misappropriation case.
Listed as Accused No. 2 (A2), Arvind was reportedly questioned for nearly six hours by a three-member ACB team at their headquarters, while the Enforcement Directorate (ED) wrapped up a marathon interrogation of businessman BLN Reddy in connection with the same case.
The investigation centres around the alleged diversion of Rs 55 crore to foreign accounts during the Formula E Car Race event. ACB officials recorded Arvind’s statement, focusing on key questions like the decision-making process behind the cash transfers, the beneficiaries, and whether RBI approval was obtained for the transactions.
Sources suggest that during his statement, Arvind indicated that the funds were released following orders from then Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR).
The ACB is now examining the involvement of other officials and ministers to uncover the diversion of public funds.
Meanwhile, BLN Reddy’s interrogation raised concerns about the involvement of top figures in the fund diversion case.
The ED interrogated BLN Reddy for over eight and a half hours and reportedly extracted critical information regarding the diversion of funds. Sources indicate that Reddy provided details about the roles played by Arvind Kumar and Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) in the fund transfers connected to the Formula E race.
The investigation centres around the alleged diversion of Rs 55 crore to foreign accounts during the Formula E Car Race event. Both the ACB and the ED are probing the decision-making process behind the cash transfers, the intended beneficiaries, and whether RBI approval was obtained for these transactions.
