The Andhra Pradesh government has directed power utilities to promptly address public complaints related to electricity supply and enhance consumer satisfaction. Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, reviewing the power sector at the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) on Monday, stressed accountability and warned of strict action against delays or negligence in grievance redressal.

He interacted with DISCOM CMDs — Prithvi Tej (APEPDCL), P Pulla Reddy (APCPDCL), and K Santosha Rao (APSPDCL) — and reviewed issues like frequent interruptions, low voltage, and transformer failures.

Vijayanand noted that while some progress has been made, overall public satisfaction remains inadequate. He instructed DISCOMs to act swiftly on complaints, especially during weather-related disruptions, and ensure professional and transparent service. Field staff must remain accessible, and call centres, voltage monitoring, and transformer maintenance systems must be strengthened.

Reiterating the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, the Chief Secretary said the focus is on transforming the power sector into a model of efficiency and public trust. He called for continuous improvement to ensure reliable 24×7 power supply and build greater public confidence in the system.
