Cyberabad police on Monday arrested an agriculture extension officer (AEO) Goreti Srisailam for diverted Rs 2 crore of Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bhima schemes. Taking advantage of loopholes, the AEO and his accomplice diverted the money into 14 bank accounts of his driver Odela Veera Swamy name and bought lands. He joined as AEO in 2017 at Kondurg mandal in Ranga Reddy district and both the schemes started in 2018.
Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty said that he was involved in creating 20 fake claims under Rythu Bima and embezzled Rs 1 crore and misappropriated Rythu Bandhu Scheme of 130 funds of Rythu Bandu scheme and diverted funds to a tune of Rs. 1 crore from 2019 to 2024.
Economic Offense Wing (EOW) Deputy Commissioner of Police K Prasad said that he had collected information from Chief Commissioner of Land Administration(CCLA) through Rythu Bhima portal using Pattadar Pass Book (PPB number) and submitted to fake claim who are not eligible such as exceeding age of 60 years, already died, who doesn’t have land for fake claiming of insurance of about 20 members and cheated of Rs. 1 crore. verification. After submitting the enrolment process, He used to apply for death claim by submitting his known nominee name, nominee bank account number including fake death certificates.
DCP Prasad mentioned that after he got the money, Srisailam purchased 2.35 acres of agriculture land in Kondurg village, 8.20 acres of agriculture land in Thummalapally village, and also an open plot measuring 183 square yards in Kadthal village. All the properties purchased are registered under his wife Maheshwari’s name.
EoW officials seized two mobile phones, seven nationalized bank debit cards, five fake and forged death certificates and LIC documents from the accused.
