Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that agriculture is the backbone of the country’s economy and that there is a need to strengthen all agriculture-allied sectors.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Biological Control Laboratory at NIPHM, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, on Monday, Tomar said the agriculture sector is gaining strength as the government is giving it priority.
He said that India would play a key role in the world in the context of the G-20 conference. He said that the coming 25 years are important for the nation’s development. Our strength has increased, he said.
Tomar urged Agriculture Extension Officers to take the fruits of research to the fields. He said that the Lab and Land should be linked to increase agricultural production and to try to utilize digital technology for marketing linkage.
Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy thanked the Centre for extending support for providing infrastructure at the Agriculture University and in other educational institutions.
He said that the investment amount given by the Telangana government to farmers is nothing but extending support to others. He said that Rythu Bandhu is the first programme in the world that helps farmers.
Union Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja said that farmers in rural areas were scientists and asked officials to learn from farmers to certify. He asked officials to give good seeds to farmers.
