Ajay Arasada finds his inspiration in Devi Sri Prasad

Must read

The talented and young usic director, Ajay Arasada, is on the rise. He began his musical journey as a keyboard player for Adivi Sesh’s starrer Goodachari and post that, worked on a few films. However, Ajay worked independently for the film Aay and the latest web series Vikkatakavi. “Goodachari film director Sricharan Pakala is my childhood friend and he offered me the opportunity to contribute keyboard programming for his film,” said Ajay Arasada. “Later, I worked on films like Ksheera Sagara Mathanam, Nede Vidudala, Missing, and Sriranganeethulu.” He also worked on the web series Save the Tigers season one and two.
Born and brought up in Visakhapatnam, Ajay Arasada watched keenly as his aunt and sisters played the Veena. “I started liking music from my childhood, watching them. Initially, I wanted to learn the guitar, so I learned the basics for about two and a half months under Sharath Master,” said Ajay. He completed his engineering degree from GITAM and then worked at TCS as a software programmer. “I quit my job and decided to focus on music,” said Ajay.
While working at TCS from 2011 to 2018, Ajay worked simultaneously on short films. “This gave me some practice and improved my music skills,” he said. During that time, he met director Pradeep of the Jagannatakam film. “He saw my work and offered me the opportunity to work on his film. That’s how my entry into films happened,” said Ajay. Working on the recent hit Aay was a good experience, said Ajay. He met producer Bunny Vas at an event related to that film. Bunny Vas said he liked the music of the Missing film, composed by Ajay. “Initially, he asked me to compose only two songs, but after seeing my work, they were impressed and I was given the opportunity to compose music for the other songs and the background score,” said Ajay about the Aay movie.
He said that giving the background score for a comedy movie like Aay was no small task. “However, when the film became a hit, all the hard work felt worthwhile,” said Ajay.
Ajay says that directors are his mentors. “They are my greatest mentors in learning music. Collaborating with them helps me explore and learn new dimensions of music,” he said. Ajay’s recent web series Vikkatakavi is doing well, and he is receiving praise for it. “I simply delivered the output that the director Pradeep needed for the series. Being a periodical series, it required a unique musical approach. As a technician, my priority is always to deliver the output the directors seek, regardless of the genre—be it a film or a series. I’m always ready to adapt and create music for any kind of project,” said Ajay.
When asked about his inspiration, “I have great admiration for Devi Sri Prasad sir. He is truly an inspiration to me,” said Ajay Arasada. Talking about his upcoming projects, he said he is working on Three Roses Season 2, along with two other web series for Aha. Additionally, discussions are ongoing for a few movie projects, he added.
