‘All I wanted was to be in the spotlight, always!’

Actress Ranjan Kapoor discusses with The Pioneer’s Shikha Duggal her desire to carve a niche for herself by being recognised for her vision.
In the film industry, actors with families frequently have an advantage. Similar to Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, though, she is forging her own path. She also found it difficult to shake the reputation of an industry kid already. However, Akansha was present to discuss her desire to carve out a unique niche. It is a significant accomplishment for her to be recognised for her vision.
Our interviewee was excited to work on a movie like Guilty with Kiara Advani, recalling, “My first experience in this industry gave me everything that I am carrying forward to this day. I was working so hard to show everyone that I could act and that I could carry the lead role in a movie. And I got to make my Tollywood debut thanks to Monica O My Darling. Because I didn’t have the luxury of someone coming to me and putting a film offer in my hands, recognition from my first film greatly helped. Why would they do that? I will never regret working with Kiara on a movie. That’s where my acceptance eventually stems from.”
Akansha, who is gearing up to make her Tollywood debut with Sundeep Kishan, went on, “I was simply having fun in front of the camera before guilty happened, because I have also filmed before my formal debut. I was enjoying myself as I was featured in Instagram reels and ads. All I wanted was to be in the spotlight! However, it wasn’t until I experienced my first movie that I realised the true scope of the entertainment industry’s operations. The director and cinematographer now take the lead, and the cameras switch. At that point, I recognised that Akansha needed to step it up right now.”
She continues, saying, “Even a Huma Qureshi movie opened a lot of doors for me. Without this movie as well, I doubt I could have accomplished what I truly wanted to! A lot of well-known directors began contacting me; I felt honored. I’m bringing a lot of our conversations to fruition in the near future. I am quite happy that this large banner movie has the potential to positively benefit my career if it manifests.”
Ray fame elaborated in the exclusive interview, saying, “Being enrolled in a film school is really important. That’s what Whistling Woods has taught me, at least. I had the acting keeda in me, which is why it worked out so beautifully for me. Had it not been for this acting school, which refined me, I would have been so raw. It helps because we students are expected to adhere to a set procedure. Let me just say that the actual game starts with the audition rounds, which is why it helped me open up so much that I was able to pass today’s film auditions. The audition stage is the scariest part of every movie shoot. In film school, you’re transparent. That’s how you stop being afraid in front of your audience, and most actors strive for that. These days, getting into an audition is the toughest challenge for an actor! There is no one in the room willing to offer you directions. Conversely, you may see that the panel is becoming less interested in you. That starts to demoralise you.”
She sheds some light on this aspect of her career as well, saying, “We started filming my first music video before my supposed debut movie, but I actually signed it after guilt. Actually, I made my debut in the music video, hehe. I couldn’t find myself! I didn’t even know which camera I needed to look at. Standing directly behind me was Aparshakti, and we both burst out laughing. I saw that music video as a kind of mini-tutorial.”
“If we talk about my debut movie, I had to be very sensitive,” Akansha added, piqued in curiosity about how she actually handles different parts. “Because the entire guilty cast was so young, we required assistance in handling a sexual assault incident. The purpose of the film was to encourage younger ladies in the community. We achieved success. because I got so many messages from young girls! Thus, we tried to be as accurate as possible without offending anyone. Since I was initially portraying a grey tint, it was challenging for me to convince myself that you cannot judge her, Akansha. Interestingly, I also received notes stating that you were the essence of the movie, even though Kiara Advani was in it. That’s heartening. My year was made just by it.”
“From the beginning, both my parents were clear that you will have to carve your own journey even if we are connected to the film industry,” MaayaOne debutante said in closing. “Our family has also experienced a great deal of failure. My father is aware of the industry’s occasionally brutal nature. The industry is changing every minute. They want me to make my own decisions because they have already experienced their fair share of highs and lows.”
