Guntur Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pala Raju has announced that a robust security contingent comprising over 3,900 police personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety of the ‘Prajagalam’ public meeting scheduled to be held at Chilakaluripet on March 17, organised by the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address the gathering.
A rehearsal of the VVIP convoy took place on Saturday at the venue, with Guntur Range IGP Pala Raju leading the inspection of security arrangements alongside a substantial number of police personnel, including Superintendents of Police from Prakasam, Palnadu, Bapatla, and Guntur districts.
The IGP provided necessary directives to the officials overseeing the security arrangements.
IGP Raju outlined the deployment plan, stating that among the 3,900 police personnel assigned to security duties for the ‘Prajagalam’ meeting, there would be 6 Superintendents of Police, 11 Additional SPs, 27 DSPs, 82 CIs, 256 SIs, and 800 ASIs/HCs. Additionally, 353 AR force personnel and 149 special force personnel are also part of the deployment.
In preparation for the event, vehicular traffic will be redirected along various routes on Sunday, with the IGP specifying that the Chennai-Kolkata highway will remain accessible. He urged all law enforcement personnel to remain vigilant until the Prime Minister’s departure, emphasizing the diversion of NH 16 traffic to alternate routes on Sunday, particularly for vehicles travelling between Chennai and Vijayawada.
Meanwhile, arrangements for the ‘Prajaganjana’ meeting have been finalised at Boppudi village in the Chilakaluripeta constituency of Guntur district. Spread across 300 acres, the venue features six helipads constructed at a distance for the Prime Minister’s helicopters and a 60-foot-long dais elevated to eight feet.
