All set for sarpanch, ward members election: Collector

Collector P Prashanthi has said that all arrangements have been made for the conduct of elections for a sarpanch post and 10 panchayat ward members.

In a statement here on Friday, the Collector said elections for the sarpanch post and 10 ward members would be held on Saturday. All needed arrangements were made to conduct the election in a peaceful atmosphere on Saturday, she said.

“Polling for the post of one sarpanch and 10 ward members will be held on Saturday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm and the counting of votes will be held from 2 pm,” she said, adding that the elections would be conducted to Kavalipuram village sarpanch post and Veeravasaram mandal Matsyapuri, Palakodera mandal Gollalakoderu, Penugonda mandal Dongaravipalem, Iragavaram mandal Goteru, Penumantra mandal Marteru, Tanuku mandal Thetali, Palakollu mandal Gorintada, Chintapparru, Pentapadu mandal Kasapa Pentapadu, Ganapavaram mandal Ganapavaram ward members.

The Collector said that the total voters are 14,735, adding that two candidates are contesting for the post of Sarpanch post and 23 candidates for the posts of 10 ward members. Collector Prashanthi said that 20 polling stations have been set up for the conduct of elections, adding that 120 staff have been assigned election duties.

Meanwhile, addressing the grievance day, the Collector said that the grievance day would help the employees to work in a free environment. She participated in the grievance government employee’s grievance day programme in the Collector’s office on Friday. She took representations from the employees on various issues.

Speaking on the occasion, on this occasion, the District Collector said that if the service problems of the employees were resolved, it would help them to work in a freer environment, adding that appeals on employee service matters, pension issues, financial issues, disciplinary cases and medical reimbursement issues can be submitted in the employee grievances held on the third Friday of every month and the issues resolved.

The Collector asked the district officials to pay special attention to this matter and work to resolve the problems of the employees of the respective departments. Joint Collector S Ram Sundar Reddy was also present.
