AP CID Additional SP Ravi Kumar has strongly condemned the ‘false propaganda’ against the CID in the Margadarsi chit fund case by a particular media house. He stated that the investigation into the Margadarsi case was being conducted in accordance with the law and the CID had no intention of troubling anyone. The Margadarsi management did not respond appropriately and when company managing director Shailaja Kiran was questioned on Tuesday, irrelevant answers were given by her.
Addressing the media persons here on Wednesday, he said two media houses alleged that Margadarsi case was being investigated only to harass and the company MD was asked questions throughout the day as part of the investigation. False accusations were made against the CID, and articles were published saying that Margadarsi’s credibility was being tarnished, which are baseless, he said.
The CID Additional SP said that the agency was investigating the case to protect the interests of chit-fund customers and action was being taken only against those who have violated the law. Clear evidence was found during the investigation in the Margadarshi case, he added.
He said that the CID investigation team consisting of experts from respective fields would be taken with them for technical queries, and added that the MD responded in a different way to the same question or bypassed questions without giving a direct answer.
He said that on Tuesday, when the CID officials reached the MD’s residence in Hyderabad, the officials were not allowed inside. They were told that only CID officials, no other technical team, would be allowed, stating that they had court orders. When the CID asked to show the court orders, they hesitated and allowed the CID personnel inside after a long time. In Tuesday’s investigation, only 25 percent of answers were given by the MD, and it is necessary to conduct a thorough investigation once again.
