Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and former MLC Gidugu Rudra Raju has emphasised that there is a historical necessity for the Congress to come to power in the State. For that, the party national leadership will be discussing this issue with the other like-minded parties and finalising the alliance for the next Assembly elections, he said.

While addressing the media at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on Monday, he said that recently, CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna visited the Congress party office in the city and expressed his party’s interest to contest the 2024 elections together. He made it clear that the Congress was trying to unite all like-minded parties to defeat the BJP, TDP, Jana Sena Party and YSRCP.

Meanwhile, he said that the Congress national leadership had announced the manifesto for the upcoming general elections. The ruling parties in the State and at the Centre were treating the SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities as vote banks. However, these governments were not bothered about the recurring incidents of attacks in the State, he alleged.

“After the YSRCP came to power, the law and order situation was out of control. Attacks on SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, and women are increasing day by day. Victims are afraid of further attacks,” he said.

He demanded that the State government form a fast-track court to resolve the case of Mounika who was attacked in Darsi recently. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Home Minister Taneti Vanitha and the DGP are yet to respond, he added. Even villagers fear to talk with the victims.

Meanwhile, he listed out the attacks and outbreaks of violence against SC, ST, BC, minorities and women during the past four years. Jagan Mohan Reddy betrayed Dalits, tribals, BCs and minorities, he alleged. He flayed TDP, YSRCP and Jana Sena Party for not condemning the Manipur violence.

APCC Media Cell chairman Dr N Tulasi Reddy gave a call to the party cadres to defeat BJP, YSRCP, TDP and Jana Sena Party in the ensuing elections. The Congress party should come to power both in the State and at the Centre, he said. Congress Vijayawada city president Naraharasetti Narasimha Rao and AICC member V Gurunadam were present.
