NTR District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha paid floral tributes to Amarajeevi Potti Sreeramulu on the occasion of his birth anniversary at the Collectorate camp office in Vijayawada on Sunday. Remembering Sreeramulu’s sacrifice for the formation of a Telugu-speaking Andhra State, he described the struggle as a momentous achievement.
In his address, Collector Lakshmisha highlighted Sreeramulu’s extraordinary commitment, noting that his fast unto death was a pivotal moment in the creation of Andhra State. He urged people to reflect on his efforts to establish a state that upholds the regional language and encouraged students and young people to draw inspiration from his legacy and pass it on to future generations.
The birth anniversary was also observed at the NTR District Police Commissionerate, where Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu paid tribute to Sreeramulu, acknowledging his sacrifice for Andhra State.
Additionally, Vijayawada Mayor Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi honoured Sreeramulu at the Command Control Room within the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation premises. She stated that his fight for the rights of the Telugu people remains unforgettable.
The event saw participation from VMC Additional Commissioner (Projects) D Chandrasekhar, Chief Engineer R Srinath Reddy, SEs P Satyanarayana and P Satya Kumari, Assistant Medical Officer Dr Gopi Naik, and Manager AUB Sharma, among others.
