Amritha Aiyer, the talented actress who rose to Pan-Indian fame with her impressive performance in the blockbuster film Hanuman, is now gearing up for her next release, Bachchalamalli. Ahead of the release, Amritha opens up about her experience working on Bachchalamalli, her dream roles and her future projects.
Amritha Aiyer has become a pan-Indian actress after the stupendous success of Hanuman, where she played the female lead opposite Teja Sajja. “When we started filming, it was purely a Telugu film, but once it was released, it became a huge success all over India,” said actress Amritha Aiyer.
The actress revealed that while shooting for Hanuman, she accepted the offer to star in Bachchalamalli, where she played the female lead opposite Naresh. “When this script came to me, I liked it because my character has a lot of importance in it, so I didn’t want to let it go,” she said about her role in Bachchalamalli. The film is scheduled to release on December 20. “The story is set in the 1980s and I play a city girl who is very sensitive and emotional,” said Amritha about her role. She added that some of the scenes between her and Naresh are very emotional. Talking about her co-star Naresh, she said, “He is very aggressive on screen in his role, but off screen, he is very quiet.”
The actress stated that her criteria for selecting projects are the story and her role. “From the beginning of my career, I have always wanted to do meaningful characters and luckily, I got a good role in Bachchalamalli,” she said. She added that, like Hanuman, she wishes for Bachchalamalli to be a big hit. “If the content is good, everyone will like it and the movie will definitely be successful,” she said. Amritha clarified that the success of Hanuman did not change her approach to selecting stories. “It’s not true that I would have done Bachchalamalli only after Hanuman. I wanted to do it because of my character and the story,” she said.
The Telugu songs Neeli Neeli Akasam from 30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela and Poolamme Pilla from Hanuman were very popular and remain chart-toppers even today. Amritha believes that the music in Bachchalamalli will also gain popularity after the film’s release. “When I found out that Vishal Chandrasekhar was composing the music for this film, I was thrilled. He had earlier worked on Sita Ramam and I am confident that the songs in Bachchalamalli will be just as popular once the film is released,” she said. Talking about her dream roles, Amritha mentioned that she would like to play princesses, queens and dream girls. “I would also like to do action-oriented films,” she added. When asked about her upcoming projects, Amritha revealed that she is working on a Tamil and Kannada film. “I am also listening to Telugu scripts,” she said.
