While many things had come to a halt during the pandemic, it was also a window of opportunity for many. The pandemic not only brought us closer to our loved ones but also helped many of us explore our talents, which we weren’t aware of.

It’s no secret that the lockdown pushed many people to experiment with the creator world and give it a shot. Sakshi Keswani, aka Being Suku, is one such collection of talent, or, as she and her fans refer to it, “Talent ki Dukaan,” who discovered her talent during the pandemic. Sakshi always wanted to act and entertain people. And, during the lockdown, she realised that content creation is her thing and found it to be the best golden opportunity, not only to act but also to entertain people.

Sharing her journey so far into the content creation world, she says, “My journey has been very crazy. In the beginning, it was all lows. I wasn’t even gaining as much attraction as I thought I would. It was a very slow process; nobody wanted me to do this. But now, when I look back, I feel good about myself, and I feel proud that I didn’t give up.”

There’s a very well-known phrase in Hindi, “Sabar ka phal meetha,” which means the sprouting of patience is always sweet. To gain what you wish for, patience is the key. Sakshi has faced her fair share of difficulties in gaining her current fan base and love. Sakshi, who started everything from scratch and gained over 3 million followers, says, “I faced many challenges because I was very new to this. I had no idea about how to do editing, record myself, or do proper acting without overacting (she giggles). Everything was very new, because I had no idea about it or how these things were done. But I loved doing this, and I knew that I would learn by doing, so I did it. Now that I’m a pro at it, I can do all of it in just a few minutes, but before, when I used to take like 15-20 second videos, I used to take like 2-3 hours to edit my videos. I am still learning, but yeah, I am quite a pro now at editing and recording myself.”

For many of us, art has been therapy and an escape. Many enjoy art as a means of communication because it lets us explore and express our emotions and thoughts. Sakshi has also been someone who has been associated with art, or, as she describes it, “coloring has been in her blood,” and so is her art page at @colorinmyblood.

“Art has always been an escape for me, almost like therapy, since I was a child, when I was into the arts. Even when I was not very much interested in studies and all, I used to paint and participate in competitions, even winning some of them. So it was a scapegoat; I was like, “So what if I’m not able to do this? At least I can entertain and make people happy.” I have always done whatever I do with zeal since the beginning. When I was an art student, I used to paint all the time. When I pursued fine arts after my 12th, I was into painting 24*7 I was only doing that; I still paint, though not as much as I used to, and art is still a form of therapy and an escape for me,” adds the artist.

If there’s any field that is known for its good and bad sides, it’s the digital world. And, being a content creator herself, we asked her what her good and bad sides were in the digital world. She says, “To be honest, for me 90% is good for me and 10% is sometimes like FOMO; I always like overachieving things; I am very competitive, and sometimes that affects me. I believe that if I had been in a different field, this would have had the same effect on me. It is not all social media at all, but it is in me. I love being a content creator, and I love the social media space and the digital space, and I am happy.”

To all the budding artists and content creators, Being Suku has a short and cute message for you all: “Do not lose hope in yourself, your dreams, or your passion; if you want to do it, you can do it. So if somebody else did it, so can you; you have that in you; just do it and don’t think about anything else. Trust yourself and your gut; do it and never give up.”

Signing off the interview on a positive note, she says, “My future plans are very simple: just go with the flow. I really want to try OTT and acting and be as wonderful as I can be. Nothing else. And I just want to go with the flow, be happy, and create something crazy every single day.”
