Anganwadi worker attempts suicide

Must read

An Anganwadi worker attempted suicide in protest against the government’s action against them here on Monday.
Police said that an Anganwadi worker Sarita consumed pesticide at the PD office here. When she was participating in the agitation, she suddenly consumed pesticide in protest against the government’s announcement of terminating those who did not report to duty.  Sarita was admitted to the Pavani hospital where she is undergoing treatment. The undeterred anganwadi workers vowed to continue their protests till the government conceded their legitimate demands.
Meanwhile, Telugu Desam party chief and ex-Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took strong exception to the stringent steps being taken by the government against the agitating Anganwadi workers.
In social media ‘X’, he said: It is highly objectionable and improper to take such hard measures against the agitting Anganwadi workers instead of resolving their demands. The government acts reflecting dictator rule. The government is acting in a vindictive manner against the agitating Anganwadi workers. The government is trying to foil the agitation by using unethical means. I vehemently condemn the government’s decision to sack the Anganwadi workers.”
