The leaders of Anganwadi unions announced that protesting Anganwadi are going to intensify their agitations from December 31 as the Jagan Mohan Reddy government remained numb to their justifiable demands.
They stated that Anganwadis have been striking for the past 14 days for a hike in wages but there was no response from the government. AP Anganwadi workers union state president Subbaravamma said that Anganwadi workers and helpers are agitating in CDPO offices and Mandal centres across the state to fulfil their demand for the minimum wage of Rs 26,000 gratuity and other allowances. She said that there are 55,607 Anganwadi centres across the state in which approximately one lakh Anganwadi workers and Ayas were working and all of them went on strike.
The leaders said that the unions decided to increase the protests under which striking Anganwadis will stage protests at the houses of MLAs on December 27 in all 175 constituencies and will submit memorandums with their demands to the legislators. They said that if the government fails to fulfil their justifiable demands, then Anganwadis will intensify their protests after December 31 and further course of action will be announced soon.
