In the wake of escalating political violence in Andhra Pradesh, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has expressed profound concern, particularly over the recent brutal murder of Kurnool TDP leader Srinu. Speaking to the media persons on Wednesday, Minister Anitha said “The loss of our leaders to such heinous acts is not just a loss for the TDP but a blow to democracy itself.” Minister Anitha highlighted the disturbing trend of political violence, noting that since the TDP alliance assumed power, four political murders have taken place, with three of the victims being leaders from the Telugu Desam Party.
“I have spoken with the Kurnool SP, and I want to assure everyone that those responsible for these crimes will be apprehended and punished according to the law,” she declared, sending a clear message of resolve. The Minister also revealed that special teams have been formed to expedite the investigation, and search operations are already underway. She extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, assuring them of the party’s unwavering support during this difficult time.
Minister Anitha said: “We will not rest until justice is served, and those responsible are held accountable, no matter who they are.” Minister Anitha did not shy away from criticising YCP MLCs, particularly MLC Anantha Babu, who is accused of killing his driver. She questioned why Jagan Mohan Reddy had not demanded Anantha Babu’s resignation, stressing the need for leaders to set positive examples.
Home Minister Anitha praised Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his visionary leadership. “Under his guidance, Vision 2020 was a success, and now with Vision 2047, we are on the path to making Andhra Pradesh the number one state in the country,” she said, reinforcing her commitment to the State’s progress and development.
The tense atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh was further inflamed by a related incident involving the murder of former TDP Sarpanch Srinivasulu in Hosur village, Patikonda Mandal. The attackers, believed to be YCP sympathisers, ambushed Srinivasulu as he was preparing to leave the country, blinding him with chili powder before brutally hacking him to death with hunting machetes. Local sources suggest the murder was politically motivated, stemming from the YCP’s inability to accept the TDP’s overwhelming victory in Hosur during the recent elections.
