Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) president and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), has announced plans to establish another international cricket stadium in Amaravati. This will be in addition to the existing ACA International Stadium in Mangalagiri.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan are working towards transforming Andhra Pradesh into a sports hub, dubbed Kreedandhra Pradesh, with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, MP Chinni said.
To mark the birthday of Minister for Human Resources and IT, Nara Lokesh, the third season of the Mangalagiri Premier League (MPL) cricket tournament, titled Pride of Mangalagiri, was inaugurated by ACA President Sivanath at the ACA International Stadium in Mangalagiri, Guntur district, on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, MP Chinni highlighted ACA’s efforts to enhance cricket infrastructure in the state. He announced that the Cricket Academy in Vizianagaram would be inaugurated by the end of January, alongside the Women’s Cricket Academy, which is set to open this month. Plans are also underway to launch the Andhra Premier League (APL) cricket tournament soon, he added.
Additionally, he shared updates on the renovation of the Visakhapatnam Cricket Stadium, which is being undertaken at a cost of ?50 crore. The renovation work is expected to be completed by the end of March, making the stadium ready to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, he explained.
As part of initiatives to promote sports, sports kits will be distributed to 147 government schools in the NTR district on the occasion of Lokesh’s birthday on January 23.
Prominent attendees at the event included Andhra Pradesh Padmasali Welfare and Development Corporation Chairman Nandam Abaddhaiah, AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation Chairman Chillapalli Srinivasa Rao, and other dignitaries.
