A cyclonic circulation over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, is likely to develop into a low-pressure area, according to the Meteorological Centre.
The low pressure area is expected to form over the central parts of the southern Bay of Bengal around December 7. The system is likely to move west-northwestwards and may reach the southwest Bay of Bengal, off the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts, by December 12.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely at one or two places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema over the next seven days. Isolated rainfall was also reported in these regions during the past 24 hours, the report added.
