Must read

On the occasion of the late legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s (ANR) hundredth birthday, the Annapurna Studio and the Film Heritage Foundation, along with PVR Inox, decided to celebrate the ANR birthday with special celebrations. Some of his old films, like Devadasu, Mayabazar, Gundamma Katha, Manam and some of his other classic films, are to be screened in some selected theaters from September 20 to 22.
Interestingly, there are few legendary actors like Raj Kapoor, Mohd Rafi and Tapan Sinha who also completed 100 years along with ANR, but only Nageswara Rao saved negatives/prints of his movies at his own cost in those days at NFDC! He believed that film is forever and should be available for generations to come. With this in his mind, he stored his films’ content that has been restored and is being shown to audiences today. Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor old films are not available today, since negatives and prints were never made accessible.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who started Annapurna Studios in 1976 in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation, is celebrating the birth anniversary of the legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao by re-releasing 10 of his classic films.
